What a History!
Sangforenigen Norden "Singing Society" was founded in 1902 by
Swedish immigrants who desired to further the activity of Swedish
singing here in America. The original singers appeared all
over the nation, entertaining presidents and other dignitaries.
At one time, the bylaws required that all members be born in
Sweden. The rules were gradually relaxed as times changed.
Today, the only requirement is that members be 21 years of age or
older, with no ethnic strictures.
Today the club exists as a thriving social and civic
organization. Events include parties, dances, concerts,
dinners, children's activities and cause-related programs.
Our diverse body of members hails from all over Southwestern
Connecticut and beyond. Members-at-large live all over the
globe!
